Unable to mouse scroll in Word 2007

Can anyone help with this extremely irritating issue? I am running MS Office
2007 on Windows XP and using a PS/2 connected mouse. I have also tried a
wireless mouse. I can mouse scroll within Excel, and within the help pages
of Word, but not through the pages of a WORD document. I have tried Editing
the Registry as suggested by Microsoft Help/How To, but this hasn't fixed a
thing. I am able to scroll using the bar, but I don't want to use the bar!!!

Please.............this is driving me insane and I'm beginning to wish I'd
never upgraded from my faithful Office 2000!! Any suggestions in idiot text
please, I have a secretary's brain, not a programmers. Thanks.

Exact same problem. I found someone who had success deleting the DATA
key in regedit under current user\software\microsoft\office\12\word
but that didn't work for me.

There are several known causes of trouble with meeses <g> in Word, including:

-outdated mouse or display card driver
(Word tends to push drivers harder than other Office apps)

-using the 'Universal Scroll' setting for the mouse in Windows control panel.

-outdated or incompatible add-ins such as LaserFiche or FlashPaper.

-corrupted Word 2007 'data key' in the registry.

If you hold the control key when starting Word does the mouse work? If so, then it's more likely to be one of the last two that are
relative.
