UNREADABLE TEXT

Joe

A record in Access became unreadable with squares and Asian looking fonts.
How can I fix this? It's only one record of the thousands within my database.

it's called corruption

you can prevent this by moving to Accesss Data Projects

I had a similar sort of thing. I mananaged to delete the corrupted record.
However, after another compact/repair or two, I remade the entry (it was in a
table of with sequentially numbered records and I reflexively filled in the
hole). The new entry immediately corrupted to look like the one with the
Asian characters that I'd cleared out a week or two previously. I've cleaned
it up again, and have been cautious not to remake that one entry. What could
cause that?

yeah you should move to Access Data Projects; you can use real
datatypes that don't allow unicode characters for example

Access MDB isn't reliable enogh for real world usage

**** you, I never claimed to be an employee of Microsoft.

I care too much about quality to work for an abusive company like MS
