i select all the text in a textbox and try to apply a font. nothing happens.
that's the case with 4/5 fonts, only a few work. the same appears in both
publisher 2003 and 2007.

Are you creating a web page? Publisher will show 11 or so fonts when you are
creating web pages. To use all the fonts, on the toolbar, Format, Font, uncheck
Show only Web fonts.

If above is not the issue, are you getting an error?

A

ayudameconpublisher

I get absolutely no error message and no, I'm not creating a web page but a
brochure.

This is really a SWAG but...try changing your default printer.

If your printer has built in fonts it could be the reason of your lack of font
selection. You can change using the printer fonts option in your printer
properties.

Unfortunately it doesn't help at all. And btw in MS Word everything works
just fine.

A

ayudameconpublisher

font manager, no.
commercial printing, no.
I'm only trying to apply original fonts that come with publisher so it
shouldn't be license problem.

before detect & repair

I would try; strip out ALL of Word's formatting and format your document IN
Publisher
In other words abandon all formatting that was done in Word and do it in
Publisher.

op didn't say selecting...said _changing_ a font.

imo it's better to format in Publisher then carrying junk from elsewhere
into Pub...perhaps there are errant styles or bad fonts like you guys said.

ok after a bit of research it comes out I can't use fonts that don' have the
@ sign in front of them. and these fonts are just what i need. can anyone
explain me why is it so that i can't use many fonts and is there any known
way to repair it?

M

Mary Sauer

All those fonts you see with the @ are mostly oriental. For example
@Malgun Gothic is Korean; @Microsoft JhengHei is Chinese. And so on. Do a
Internet search for the font you are trying to use to find out what language it
is.

A

ayudameconpublisher

The font I'm trying to apply (Lucida Calliggraphy) isn't in any language,
it's just a designed font.

M

Mary Sauer

I don't what else I can tell you. Not all Office's fonts are installed by
default. Go to the Control Panel, Programs and Features folder, scroll down to
Office, click Change.

Created a document in MS Pub 2000 using MARKETPRO font. Want to change font to Arial. When I do I get little boxes where letters should be. E-med file to another PC. Same problem.

Both PC's use XP Pro and Publ. 2000.

Other than re-typing entire doc, has anyone found a solution to this problem?

Hoping in the time that has passed, the solution has been found.
