Hi =?Utf-8?B?c3Rhbg==?=,
The instruction in help does not activate the date autofill feature in Word.
Please tell us the version of Word and quote the Help topic in question (or
tell us exactly how to find it).

I typed "autofill date" in the search bar and was directed to the help topic
"Automatically insert the current date" - I followed the instructions and the
feature still did not work. Thanks

Did you follow the instructions in the "Note" at the end of the Help topic:

"Note If the current date is not displayed, you may need to turn on the
AutoComplete feature. On the Insert menu, point to AutoText, and then click
AutoText. Select the Show AutoComplete suggestions check box."

AutoComplete for dates in Word is overbilled. If I begin to type
"September," Word will give me an AutoComplete tip for that. If I accept it,
I've received all the help I'm going to get. If I complete the typing of
September and press the spacebar, Word will prompt with the rest of today's
date, and I can accept that prompt. But you don't get two shots at it,
unfortunately.
