I am running Office 97 on Windows 2000. I keep it up-to-date with all of the
latest patches and so forth out of Microsoft.com. Recently however I have
found that when I am working in Word it is doing something new and really
annoying.
What I think is happening is that the screen refreshes itself automatically
every few minutes. That's fine. The problem is that when it does this the
screen also automatically 'jumps' to wherever the cursor is sitting in the
document. I work in very complex and often very long documents within which I
have to move back and forward and I leave the cursor wherever it is I am
working as a place marker while I move around the document looking for
related material that I have to refer back to. When the screen refreshes
itself (if that's what it is doing) I might be reading something that took me
5 minutes to find and I suddenly find myself back to the cursor which is
driving me nuts!
What is happening and can I turn this off?
