0x80004005 error

We have a user on Windows XP, Office XP SP3 that is
getting (very inconsistently) Send/Receive errors stating
Task 'Microsoft Exchange Server - sending' reported error
0x80004005. The Operation failed.

We've done everything from deleting his POP3 and readding
it, to uninstalling and reinstalling Outlook. Any
suggestions?

I have a silly suggestion, after being victim of this silly problem for a few hours. When you enter your user name in the "Internet E-mail Settings (HTTP)" dialog box, include "@hotmail.com".
