I'm not sure exactly how to describe this since there's a fairly long chain
of events. In a nutshell, I have an mdb database designed in 2003 from which
I created and deployed an mde file through a utility that copies the most
recent production mdb to the local user's drive. I then did additional
development and created and deployed a new mde file using 2007 (from a
2002-2003 file format mdb). Now, neither the source mdb nor the created mde
will open in Access 2003. Instead it generates this error: "The expression On
Open you entered as the event property setting produced the following error:
Object or class does not support the set of events."
Of course, the reason for the original sequence is that the office is
straddline the 2 versions, with most users on 2003 and a few on 2007. My key
users are still using 2003 and I cannot deploy the most recent build because
they can't read it.
The final pickle is that since I can't open the mdb, from which the mde was
generated, in 2003 in order to be able to generate an mde from within 2003 I
have no way to re-try generating the mde.
I have tried opening a new mdb in 2003 and importing all the objects. The
resulting mdb still can't be read in 2003.
I hope this made sense
