In Excel 2007, B2TR, create a chart. Add chart titles and axes titles
(titles should be added by default to the axes, but that's another issue).
Select a character in a title. Attempt to format it using the popup menu;
that is, right click on the selection, and select "Font...". Changes made to
bold, italic, sub- and superscript change that property for the entire title,
not just the selected characters.
Workaround: After selecting the characters, click on the home tab of
the ribbon, then click on font properties in the "Font" group. Curiously,
single-character formatting works from there, but not from the popup menu.
In is also not possible to format single characters in VBA. This is a
severe deficiency for scientists, who routinely use sub- and superscripting
in axis labels.
Perhaps someone can add this to Microsoft's bug list.
