Access 2003:Tabular Report via Design View(not via AutoReport-Tabu

Hi all,
I started with the Design View and selected a table named "CHIL0708A1" to
get some fields for "drag and drop". I did "drag and drop" on the first field
"ClientSampleID" to the "Detail" area - the title of the field and value
appeared horizontally on the area below the "Detail" name - see the attached
file. Can I set the title and value of the "ClientSampleID" virtically? I
want to create a "Tabular" Report via the Design View (not via
AutoReport-Tabular) - i.e. put the titles of the fields on Page Header and
their values of the fields on Detail. Please help me in solving this
problem.

I'm not sure what your issue is. You can open your report in design view and
then move controls about anywhere you want. You can add groupings with or
without headers and footers. You can add controls from the ToolBox and
fields from the Field List.

After adding controls, you can set their properties and lots of different
ways.

Hi Duane, Thanks for your response.

I am a new user in Access 2003. I have the "Label"/Name and Value of my
selected field stay together when I do the Drag and Drop from the Field List.
I hope I state my issue more clearly in the following: how can I put (1) the
"Label" (Name) of my selected field on the Page Header and (2) the "Text Box"
(value) of my selected field on the Detail?

I do not know what you mean by "controls"!!! ActiveX Controls? Where can I
find the "controls" to do the above-mentioned (1) and (2)? Please be more
specific about "You can add controls from ToolBox and field from the Field
List".

Many Thanks again,
SHC

Find a basic book on Access and/or use Help.

A control is a label or text box or other "object" normally found in the
Tool Box. What you are describing as the "Label"/Name is a "Label Control".
The value is normally displayed in a "Text Box Control". You can select the
label control and press Ctrl+X to cut the label to your clipboard. Then
click anywhere in the Page Header section and press Ctrl+V to paste the
label. You can then move the label control anywhere you want.
