Accessing site defined in AAM ....

Hi,
I have a single server setup. My Server name is ABCDE-PS. I do not have DNS
Name, ISA 2006 Server.
I have created the necessary AAM for Internet as http://INTERNET.ABCDE-PS.
I have a router with registered ip address as 192.168.1.100. My PS2K7 server
has a static ip address as 192.168.1.199. The router has been setup to port
forward to my PS2K7 server. I have added an entry in IIS against the 'Project
Web Access' site (port no 80) in 'Advanced' as 'INTERNET.SAIPL-PS' and given
the same port no 80 to it as the 'Project Web Access' site.

When I access the PS2K7 server as
http://192.168.1.100/INTERNET.SAIPL-PS/pwa/defaults.aspx.....i get an error
on screen as 'Web Page Not Found'.

I have checked on the router admn if the port forwarding is happening or
not....Well it is...but the problem is after port forwarding I do not get the
login screen for ABCDE-PS/pwa.....I am wondering how will the default page
of the PWA site display after a port forward ??? I mean the technicalities....

Please advice where I am going wrong ?

Nitinn:

First of all, there is no "defaults.aspx" in the system. That typo alone
would cause the error, but that doesn't seem to be the real problem anyway.
If I had an external IP address resolvable from the internet, and used
Network address translation on my router to forward the requests to the IP
of my Project Server, from the Internet, I would type http://IPADDRESS/pwa
and that would get me in.

Now, you are using private IPs in a rather convoluted way, and I really
can't help you with this other than to suggest, as before, that you follow
the guidance on TechNet.

Gary:

Thank you for your advice.

I setup NAT on my router and accessed the PS2K7 server using the URL
http://IPADDRESS/pwa. But it is again throwing an error 'The webpage cannot
be found'.

So i tried with http://IPADDRESS/ only. this time it asked me for my user id
and password of my router. After entering the administrator id and pwd it is
not going ahead it keeps asking for the user id and pwd.

I don't understand where I am going wrong or pls advice what settings should
I check. I have not setup any AAMs...will this create any problems ?

Thanks.

Hello Gary:

I did a lot of RND on connecting PWA through internet.
I did not define any AAM.
A. I entered URL as http://INTERNETADDR:90/PWA and it asked for a user
name and pwd. I entered my user name and pwd. But it gave me an
error "Internet Explorer cannot display the Web page".
B. I entered URL as http://INTERNETADDR:90/PWA/default.aspx and it asked for
a
user name and pwd. I entered my user name and pwd. And this time it gave
me an error with the Project Server screen following message :
Go back to site
Error
An unexpected error has occurred
Troubleshoot issues with Windows Sharepoint Services
C. I entered URL as http://INTERNETADDR:90/default.aspx and it asked for a
user name and pwd. I entered my user name and pwd. And this time it
connected me to the 'Top Level site' of the farm and works absolutely
fine.

From B and C above I feel that I need to set something in IIS. But I cannot
make out what?? Please advise what I need to do.

But I need to connect to PWA site and not to Top Level site of the farm.
Alternately if I have to access PWA site from this Top Level what do I need
to do??

With Warm Regards,

Gary:

This is a special note for you.

Thank you very much for all your help. You had given me a solution right at
the beginning when I posted my first Qs but since I was not aware of how it
worked I was not able to get through. Today I have understood how Access
Mappings work and how easy it was to set it up. I am finally able to connect
through internet using the external IP address and it was all bcos of you Sir.

Thanks You Once Again !

Warm Regards,
Nitinn Gokhle
