Address Book display difference between Entourage 2004 and 2008

I have noticed a difference between the Address Book display in Entourage 2008 and 2004. I say this only as the change happened at approx the same time I upgraded from Entourage 2004 to 2008.

Prior to this time, when creating a new message, the "To" field displayed last name first. This matched the Global Address List in my corporate Exchange environment. Since then, the display from items selected from my contacts show as first name first. This is now a problem for new mail arriving to the account via the Exchange server.

My users and I included have added some of the GAL contacts/address book entries to our local contacts to include more detailed information. When new mail arrives to my Entourage inbox, it uses the display name for a user from the contact list first, even if there is a match for it in the Global Address list. Now when I try to sort my inbox mail by name, I have to check the name as from John Smith as well as Smith, John.

Is there a way to get the display name on a new message or reply to show as last name first to match the view in the GAL?

*Sigh*

Unfortunately, Entourage does not have an option for how you'd like to
display full names. It doesn't understand that "First Last" can also be
"Last, First".

If you add names from a GAL that has a display name of "Last, First"
then you can reverse the names in the local Contacts records in
Entourage by putting "Last," in the First name field and "First" in the
Last name field.

Hope this helps!
