Entourage creates a second identical address for every address in my address book. Why?
I am not using any kind of syncing.
Is there no function/tool to 'find duplicates' in Entourage (as in Mac Address Book)?
I really appreciate advice about how to stop this from happening.
thanks- monica

Are you sure you aren't syncing to Apple's Address Book? In Entourage's
preferences for Sync Services, do you any options checked?

Office 2004:Having a middle name in an Address Book contact will cause the
contact to be duplicated when it is synced to Entourage. Fixed in Entourage
2008.

thank you so much for your reply. I recently moved house, hence the delay-

I am definitely not syncing to Apple's Address Book- in Entourage's
preferences for Sync Services, NO options are checked.

In my address book, there is no 'box' for a middle name, but anyway i'm not syncing the Address Book to Entourage.

I should mention 2 things: this doesn't happen with all addresses, it seems random. And, within a contact itself, the email address will also be doubled. So I'll have a contact with 2 repeated addresses, as well as its duplicate with one address (with no activity- no sent or received on the single listing).

would you suggest I run Categorize Duplicate Contacts? (Merge Two Contacts or Merge Contacts scripts recommended).

thanks- monica
