After rebuild messages appear as folders

After a database rebuild, all new messages show up in Entourage as Folders
rather than Messages. The new Folder has the name of the message subject
line. No content can be read. OSX 10.5.6 and Entourage 12.1.5.  All updates
applied. Using MBP 2.33 Core 2 Duo w. 3 GB SDRAM

Messages show up normally on iPhone.

Restarted a couple of times, no change.

The rebuild was due to a corruption issue so the database backup created
during the rebuild is no good.

I tried doing another rebuild and using the newly created database but got
the same results (mail appearing as a folder with no content rather than as
a message). I then created an entirely new account and reentered the
Exchange Server information. The new account is working fine but I had to
recreate Rules, Categories, Signatures, etc. I copied over the Rules and
Signature files from the old database but there is a lot of tweaking needed.

Wish I knew what caused the problem.

Dianne,

As I mentioned in my original post, I already had created a new identity. In
so doing, I lost a number of things, including Projects, which is a real
pita. (Is there anyway to import a Project from another identity?)

All I saw on the links were your reports that the problem existed and a
mention that someone else had a possible solution, there was no link to the
solution. I did switch Junk Mail Protection in the problem identity (I had
it set a Low and I switched it to High) but the problem continues for that
identity.

Feel free to pass on my specifics to the developers as I cannot send my
database due to confidentiality issues. OSX 10.5.6, Entourage 12.1.5, ES
2007 operated on a hosted server.

Thanks for your help.

In Entourage Help, search for "Import a project." You still should be able
to export your projects regardless of the issue you are having.

The solution was to change junk email settings. Other than this and creating
a new Identity, this problem is a big black hole of despair.
