I am working on a document of 45 pages in length. I have a TOC, headers &
footers; 4 different style headings; many section breaks, borders under/over
headers & footers and many more formats in place.
Today I opened this doc to make one change in the format of a style heading,
wanting to change the size of the font. After making that change, ALL of the
previously entered (& saved) formatting changed throughout the document.
After seeing what happened, I attempted to "undo xxx" from the EDIT menu. I
had to click on this no less than 50 times, in order to undo the 1 change
that had just been made. Many times I saved, closed and reopened this doc to
try again and the same thing happened.
I decided to try to make a different editing change, wanting to add a border
under the text in the pages headers. I want this border done within the
header itself. I have the line of text, a blank line and then the 3rd line I
tried to enter my border. After doing so, it actually positioned itself
across the middle of the line of text. And it went across the entire page,
not just within the header margins or even within the page side margins. No
matter how many times I tried to re-enter this border in many different
places, the same problem appeared.
As I have worked on this particular document, I have "re-saved as" every new
day that I sat down to work, dating & reflecting version #. I went into
every previously saved version and the exact same problems occurred.
I am very exasperated as this doc was 100% fine before I tried to make my
final editing changes!
This is not happening within any other word docs I have. I checked for any
WORD updates I may have needed, I ran a full virus scan, and I still am
unable to make any editing changes without everything else getting screwed up.
HELP!!! Anyone who can solve this for me, asap, will be #1 in my book and
very much appreciated. Thank you.
