Apple Contacts and Outlook Contacts sync

Dear friends:

Is it possible to trust in the Apple Contacts and Outlook Contacts sync
process? I have four different groups in the Apple Contacts that I want to
keep them separately. If I sync them with Outlook, will they be merged into
one?

Have you used Outlook sync capability? Are you happy with it?
