I have used MS Project's basic functionality for simple projects before with
tasks having dependecies, and associated resources, etc. I was wondering if a
more complex project modeling can be done for asset replacement.
The assets themselves are categorized "legacy", to be replaced by "targets"
- can a mapping of which target replaces which legacy be built into the model?
Assuming we have the one time deplyment/retirement for legacy-target sets
(these would be the tasks - with timelines, resources, and costs) is there
any way to track how the overall running cost profile changes as assets get
replaced (assuming we have the monthly running cost of each asset)?
Can the activities be categorized into types - deployment and retirements?
Can we build in "soft" constraints? like asset 2 will have to be deployed
anytime before asset 3 is deployed?
