Re: "Disk full"/"cannot save AutoRecover file"
Re: my post today "Cannot save file"
This morning at 10:26 am I posted an SOS concerning inability to save my file. Finally after many efforts the dreaded spinning wheel appeared for Word2004 and I did force quit -- and assumed I had completely lost all my work, especially since I was getting messages that the Autorecover information could not be saved.
But, Lo and Behold, when I used Spotlight I found an "AutoRecovery save of.." my file, complete with all edits including MathType6 equations. So I am OVERJOYED, as I was sitting down to redo all my previous work.

Thank you, Word2004's AutoRecover system!

Hi Peter:

I am really pleased that it worked for you ‹ this time :)

Before relying on it, it's important to know how AutoRecover works, so you
know what it "can't" do :)

AutoRecover saves a list of "changes" to a SAVED document.

1) So if the document has never been saved, AutoRecover does nothing,
because there is no saved file to apply changes to.

2) If the saved copy of the document corrupts in some way, AutoRecover
cannot work because Word can't open the original, and again, it can't apply
changes to a file it can't open.

We have been campaigning for about ten years now for a proper "Automatic
Save".

For some reason, Microsoft doesn't want to do this.

Anyone who has ever lost a document that AutoRecover did not recover might
like to mention this fact (politely!) to Microsoft via Help>Send Feedback in
Word...

Cheers
