AutoRecover should save my documents before a reboot

I am studying for a very important medical school exam and have constructed a
"master file" containing review information I find important in Word.
Yesterday afternoon I typed in some additions to the file and, much to my
dismay, found them missing when I opened the document this morning after my
PC automatically rebooted following an automatic Windows Update. I should
add that my AutoRecover feature is set to automatically save every ten
minutes, so I do not know why it malfunctioned this time; however,
considering how vital this exam is, it was a crappy time for the program to
crap out on me. It should not fail at all, in my opinion.

AutoRecovery is designed to be used after a crash, not after a normal
reboot. If you want automatic saves, there is a utility called
SaveReminder. See http://gmayor.com/downloads.htm#SaveReminder.

For more about the settings found on the Save tab of Tools | Options,
see http://gmayor.com/automatically_backup.htm.

FWIW, this is NOT Word's fault but the fault of Windows and Automatic
Updates, which shuts down Word (and any other running application) if
necessary to restart Windows. You are liable to lose data if you (a) have
Automatic Updates configured to run completely automatically (as opposed to
using the Notify option) and (b) leave the machine unattended with programs
running with documents open with unsaved data.
