Backiing up Contacts to External Drive?

FYI - I also posted a message to microsoft.public.outlook.contacts.

I would like to backup my list of contacts to an external drive (in
case I lose the Outlook file). What is the best way to back it up so
I can restore and/or reinstall if something bad happen, but also can
use the backup to import to another program if required to maintain my
list.

I am using Office 2010.

Thanks for any insights.

Have you tried selecting some or all of the contact records and dragging
them top copy into a destination folder? They save as .msg files.

Have you tried using the Export function? See:
