BCWS does not always populate

I am trying to use SPI field. I baseline the project and the BCWS and BCWP
fields populate automatically. No issues. However after I update the project
with actual time data the BCWP and BCWS data files are zero (and hence SPI)
even with the project status date set. What am I doing wrong? Please help.

What date are you using for Project Status date?
If you are just setting it when you set the baseline it would cause this
behavior.
Do you have EV set to use % Complete or Physical % Complete? That could be a
cause as well.

Project status date is set to the date of the update of actuals. It is not
the baseline date. I also have EV set to use % Complete.
