Blank Printouts only in Word 2003. What to do?

I Have Word 2003 and Excel 2003. My HP Deskjet 895cxi prints out the
Microsoft XL test sheet perfectly, color and black & white. It prints an
Excel 2003 document perfectly. It goes through all the same motions of
printing a Word 2003 document, but the paper comes out blank. The print
preview document shows up perfectly.

What should I do to make Word 2003 documents with ink on them?

Does that happen with all documents, or just with one document?

If it happens with one document, then I would suspect that there is some
kind of corruption present in that document.

If it happens with all documents, then my first guess would be that Word is
using a printer function for the 895cxi that is not contemplated by the
current printer driver. Note that it is not uncommon for Word to have unique
problems that Excel does not share. My first suggestion would be to visit
HP's website and see if there is a later driver for your printer.

If it's not a printer driver issue, my next guess would be a Word issue of
some kind -- corrupted registry or normal.dot. Try starting Word in safe
mode (press Ctrl as Word is starting, then click Yes to starting in safe
mode). Do documents print okay now? If so, then the steps shown here can
help remove the corrupted culprit:
