bullets all jammed against left side of shape

In Visio 2007 when I drag a Document shape (from Basic Flowchart Shapes) into
my drawing and type some bulleted text into the shape, the bullets are all
jammed against the left border of the shape. This is typographically ugly and
looks awful, but despite considerable searching I haven't found any way to
set a wider interior margin inside the shape to prevent the bullets from
touching the shape's border. What am I missing?

A well phrased question, helping me to have a look at the problem.
When you edit the text, there is a ruler above the text.
You should drag the little downward pointing "arrow" to the right.

Aha! Your response made me wonder why I saw no such ruler. More
experimentation revealed that by highlighting the text and then
right-clicking, I can select to see "Text Ruler" - now, at last, the ruler is
revealed.

(When Visio was installed, that ruler was turned off by default; hence I
never knew it existed.) Searching help for "bullets" and "Text Formatting"
offered no clues to its existence, either; an unfortunate omission in the
help system.

Hopefully this will help others who are similarly puzzled...Thanks!
