can you put hyperlinks over text?

I typed in a hyperlink into ON, and it did not actually become a link, it
stays as just plain old text, is there something special to do?

Also, can you select some text, and put a link on it to somewhere? For
example, in a note, i have a string "For further info, see here." Can i
select the "see here" and put a link on it to documentation on the web
somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

You shouldn't have to do anything special to have ON
convert typed text into a hyperlink. You may want to
give it clues that may help (same as in other Office
programs) such as always typing the protocol prefix
(http://blah.blah.com) or a name that begins
with "www.".

Creating actual hyperlinks (CTRL-K in other Office
programs) as you describe in the second part of your
message is not possible, nor can you link to other notes
or sections in OneNote. You can cut and paste a URL (or
type it in, etc.) and then put descriptive text before
it. To use your example:

"For further info, see this link below."
http://www.example.com

Hmmm..... maybe thats my problem. I was trying to paste in a link to a
document in VS.NET's help files... which has a protocol of "ms-help://".
Im guessing then that ON doesnt recognize that protocol. Is there a way to
register additional protocols with ON?

given (presumably) that someone has VS installed, they can open one of these
links in IE just like any other link. It would be nice to be able to
actually give them a live link in the ON note.
