Cannot sync my Palm PDA to Entourage 2004

I am unable to sync my Palm OS PDA with Microsoft Entourage 2004. I had
no difficulty doing this when I was using Entourage X. When I try to
re-install Handheld Sync Installer, I receive an error message saying
that Microsoft Component Plugin cannot be found. Yet Microsoft
Component Plugin has not been moved from its original location at: My
Hard Disk / Applications / Microsoft Office 2004 / Office.
When I try to do a Hot Sync, the log reveals the following error
message:

Entourage Conduit Syncronization failed
"Entourage Conduit" failed (error = #-1)

When I open the Conduit Settings window when running HotSync Manager, I
see Entourage Conduit listed. Under the "Next HotSync Action" heading
is the message "Double-Click to see." Double-clicking produces nothing.
This feature used to work properly under Entourage X.

I have tried all of the following measures with no success:
Re-installing Handheld Sync Installer from the original CD.
Re-installing Microsoft Entourage 2004 from the original CD.
Re-installing Palm Desktop downloaded from palm.com website.
Running the old Entourage Sync Installer program from Entourage X.

Here is a rundown of my configuration:
Computer: Apple Macintosh 15 in. PowerBook 1.33 Mhz.
OS: Mac OS X Version 10.3.7
Palm Desktop 4.1
PDA: Palm Tungsten E. 30 Mb RAM with 19 Mb free.
Palm OS Software v.5.2.1

Ok...here you go...
1) remove the microsoft office X folder (might say identities too...have
done it in a while) from "\documents\microsoft user data" folder.

2) installer the new hotsync installer included with microsoft office 2004.
You will find this in "\applications\microsoft office 2004\additional tools"
