Can't edit chart data

In PPT 12.1.0, I created a chart, edited it in Microsoft Chart? Excel? (Can't remember). Now I cannot, from the PPT document, go back to the chart data to edit it. If I click on the chart, in the Formatting Palatte, under Chart Data, where I used to be able to select Edit Chart Data (or something like that), the only two choices now are "Sort by" and "Data Table"

I had exactly the same problem, but only on one chart - the others in the presentation seem to be OK

All -

Control/Right-Click in the chart's Plot Area & select Edit Data from the
contextual menu - does that not work?

Additionally, make sure you have Office updated to 12.1.1 & repair disk
permissions just to be on the safe side.

Beyond that there isn't much anyone can offer without more detailed
information - I'm afraid "me too" doesn't give anyone much to work with :)

I'd suggest you each submit a New Message - not another Reply to this thread
- containing complete descriptive information about your circumstances are
from start to finish. Include details such as file types involved, any
copy/paste that's been done, type of chart... Anything you can think of that
may help someone who *isn't* able to see over your shoulder better be able
to work with you to get the problem resolved.

Have the same problem. Can anyone figure out how to display the data table
to edit?

Hi,

Select one of the data elements of the graph. For example, select a line
or a section or a pie chart, or a bar on a bar chart. Then right-click
(or control-click) the selected object.

Choose Edit Data from the pop-up menu.
