I have outlook 2003 with exchange server running in cache mode. Win xp
operating system. All of a sudden, I cant empty deleted folder. I can delete
individual or groups of emails with delete button, but cannot "empty".

I get an error message that says: "Outlook has not finished synchronizing
local changes made to items in this folder. you cannot delete this folder
until the synchronization with the server is complete"

any ideas?

Wait until the synchronisation is complete?

Is this "taking forever"? - if so perhaps your cached exchange data file
(.ost file) is corrupt. Just close Outlook, delete the ost file,
restart Outlook and it will be rebuilt (and it may take some time to
initially synchronise, given it has to get all your data from exchange).

Duncan, thanks.

There was an empty folder within the deleted items folder that I think was
created by the add -in Clear context. I was unable to delete the folder from
deleted items, so I move it. Deleted items then emptied. I was finally able
to to get rid of the folder by doing a permanent delete without going through
the deleted items folder. Sounds like it was a pretty unique local situation.
