Can't install Office 2007 error 1935

I can't install Office 2007 Pro Plus on a box running Win 7 Ultimate (x64)
RTM. It continually displays error 1935 An error occured during the
installation of assembly component {97F81AF1-0E47-DC99-A02F-C8B389A1E18E}
HResult:0x800736B5
