Can't open a file because it locked itself

I cannot open an Excel file that I just used a day ago.
I'm using Excel 200 as part of Office 2000. I'm told by
Wxcel that the file is bieng used by "Mike" That's me. It
gives me the option to open Read Only or to be Notified.
Either way, it bings up the file in the background with
another notification that an illegal operation has
occurred and the program will be shut down.

I did not protect the file My only guess is that the file
was corrupted when I shut down for the night. I'm not sure
but it also appears to be twice as large (1.8kb vs about
750kb) as if it save itself twice. All speculation. I have
no idea what happend or how to recover this file.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Mike
