Can't Open Excel

C

Carla

When I try to open excel, its starts opening hundreds of
worksheets and doesn't stop until it runs out of memory.
What can I do? I have uninstalled and reinstalled with no
luck. Thanks

Hi Carla,

Years ago we used to see this problem multiple times a day. It was cased
by a bad version of the Excel add-in used by a 3rd party program (exactly
which program escapes me at the moment, I think it was Acrobat). At any
rate, use Windows Explorer to navigate to your XLStart directory, which will
be located at:

C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\XLStart\

assuming you did a default installation. Remove any files you find there and
then try starting Excel. If this is your problem, doing the above should
solve it.
