Can't use fonts for bullets any more?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel There are characters in the wingdings, webdings, and symbol fonts that I would like to use as bullets. I used to be able to do it with PPT 2004, and the files that have these bullets in them still work fine. But I want to use them in some new presentations, and I can't seem to find a way to access those fonts outside of actually typing the character in for each line.

The characters that I want do NOT show in the list of characters if I select that option for custom bullets.

Any ideas? Is it in front of my nose and I can't see it?

When you go into Format> Bullets & Numbering click the Custom Bullet arrow
button, select 'Character' & pick any glyph in any font you have installed
from the OS X Character Viewer. If you aren't familiar with the Character
Viewer see Mac Help for details.

I guess the fonts have changed. I was looking for the character I wanted in the character viewer, and it wasn't there.
