Changing the default setting in MacWord 2008

I just installed Mac Office Home and Student edition 2008. I want to change the default font and change the line spacing (it currently uses double spacing). I can make the changes on each new document as I start it, but Mac Word reverts to the pre-set defaults for each new document. Anyone ever able to change the defaults?

Hi Sonny,

I just installed Entourage edition 2008 and I'm having a very similar problem. I want to change the font size of incoming and printed messages. The default is 18. I follow the directions (select Preferences, font, change the size to 12, then hit OK) but it reverts to default. CAN SOMEONE OUT THERE HELP US? Monica

Hi Monica:

Your question has nothing to do with Word. Post it in a new question so
that we get all your version information, and one of the Entourage
specialists will be along in a minute to help you. They won't see it in a
thread labelled "MacWord" :)

Cheers
