Citations feature locked?

I recently purchased the Home and Student edition of Office 2007 and am
trying to write a paper. When i click the reference tab, the "Citations and
Bibliography" section is greyed out, and i cannot make any selections. The
only thing i can select is "Insert Citation", but from there my only option
is search libraries. This feature previously worked in the free version which
came with my computer.

if it s any sort of help, the drop-down menu marked "Style" says "Missing".
I don't know if perhaps citations is a feature only available in a certain
Office package other than home and student? Who else would use this tool but
a student?

Running latest versions of Office Pro 2007 and XP Pro.

If there was a fix for this i would like to know.

If the drop down style menu contains 'Missing' that means the style
directory is either empty or non-existent. The style directory is
located at <word directory>\Bibliography\Style

The issue is caused by an installation error. Try uninstalling and
then reinstalling Office 2007.

I don't even have the feature in word. I have enterprise 2007 instealled and
endnote. Does having endnote delete this function?

I don't know, but as it is possible to hide parts of the ribbon
interface in Word 2007, Endnote could very well hide it. As you
already have Endnote, you should probably stick with it. The Word 2007
bibliography tools are not as extensive as Endnote. There are only a
dozen styles and according to most people it is pretty hard to write
new styles.

Normally the tool is located on the 'References' tab in the 'Citations
& Bibliography' group. If it is not there, it is possible that Endnote
hid it. But that seems rather unlikely. You can always check if the
tools are there by adding them to the Quick Access Toolbar. Press the
arrow on the Quick Access Toolbar and select "More commands ...". Then
for 'Select command from' choose "All Commands". From the list pick
"Bibliography Style", "Insert Bibliography" and "Insert Citation".

Bibliography style is a drop down list with a dozen styles in it. If
it's empty or not accessible, then something might be amiss with your
installation.
