Close Quotes priniting as 2 commas on baseline

B

bob pilato

Using Word X service pack 1, and OS 10.2.6 my close quotes are
printing as double commas in the normal comma postion at baseline.
On screen, both open and close quotes look proper, but only the open
quotes print correctly. The problem may have been caused when I
converted to smart quotes. I am printing to a GCC postscript printer
with that printer's latest PPD from an iBook.

Additionally, I have upgraded to Word 10.1.5, but the About dialogue
says service pack 1. Is this correct? Is there another location to verify
my current version version of Word X?

Thank you very much for any help you can provide.

I don't know about your close quotes problem. However, for checking to make
sure you've applied the latest updates, go to the Microsoft Office X folder
on your hard drive, click the Office subfolder, and then select the
Microsoft Component Plugin. Go to File -> Get Info. The version number
stated there is the latest update you've applied (probably 10.1.5).

As stated when you installed the 10.1.5 update, it does not make any changes
to the Word application, so that will still show up as 10.1.4 if you use Get
Info. Since the About dialog does not show the installed version number, it
won't be of much use when trying to determine what the latest update you
have installed is.

Hi Bob,

I've noticed the same problem with a GCC printer we have. The same document
prints fine to an HP LaserJet and to a LexMark, which leads me to conclude
it is a flaw in the GCC driver.

You might wish to contact GCC and urge them to fix the driver.
