Color Scheme Registry Key

Zevon

Hello,

I have a new computer that has Windows Vista Business Edition and had Office
Standard Edition 2007 installed. I have since installed Office Small
Business Editon 2007 on it.

When I run Publisher and click on Color Scheme, I get the following message:

"The color scheme registry key is either missing or corruput. Run Setup
again to reinstall the color scheme registry."

I have since reinstalled Office as directed, but with no success. I then
uninstalled Office and reinstalled, again without success. Please help.

Thanks,
Zevon

Hello Zevon, I have looked everywhere for where the Color Scheme key is located
in the registry. I can find the keys in Office 9. I assume it is because I have
several versions of Publisher installed and the color schemes don't change from
version to version. You could open the registry and do a search for colorscheme
(one word).

There are MSDN development articles that might help

Mary,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I have another computer with a similar setup and did a registry search for
"colorscheme" and found at least a dozen classes entries throughout the
registry, but more specifically, found entries in HKU and HKCU under
Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Publisher\Preferences and all entries appear
to be the same on the affected system and my reference system.

I believe there is something else wrong...perhaps a complete un-install of
Office and a removal of all registry entries related to Pubisher prior to
re-install would do the trick. Your thoughts? Is there a tool that would do
that for me?

Mary,
I failed to mention that I did run the Office Diagnostics, and it found
nothing wrong.
I'll try the alternate method of uninstalling. Not getting a good feeling
about this...
When in Publisher, if I select Color Schemes, there is only one color scheme
listed in addition to the <Custom> option. Do you know if there is an option
I could use during reinstall to select or deselect Color Schemes to be
installed. Maybe this just isn't happening during the installation. Your
thoughts?

Did you have a Publisher version before this one? Is it still on your computer?
Can you create a custom color scheme?

Look in this folder

C:\Users\<<user>>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Publisher
Are there any cuscol.scm files? If there are, either delete them or rename them.

Mary,
That was the solution! Thank you!

Yeah, sorry about that...was out of town for a week, then ill. I had no idea
your proposed solution would work, otherwise I would have applied it
immediately. Thanks again!
