Colour alternating rows of Gantt chart.

N

Neil Humphries

I was asked today if it was possible to add a grid line or color alternating
rows of a Gantt chart view so that when printed out it was easy to follow
from the task list on the left side across several feet of paper to the same
task on the chart.

The user had been told that this was impossible. Is it? If not, how might I
approach the problem?

Hello Neil Humphries,

Not only possible, but fairly easy. To add gridlines to the Gantt
portion of the view.
Choose Format > Gridlines in the menu.
In the Line to Change list, select Gantt rows.
Select the interval that suits you.
Select a line style and color.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thanks, that certainly works easily enough. I wonder why the other people
asked didn't think it was possible.

I did come up with another less elegant approach which was to create a new
Bar Style starting at the project start date and ending at the task start
date. Set to light gray, it would serve to guide the eye. Since I don't have
MS Project on my PC, I haven't been able to test it yet.

You're most welcome Neil. Glad the easy solution worked out. Your
solution sounds interesting but I think it may be a bit "busy" when
looking at the Gantt.

I hope this helps.
