using project 2007,
1- open two versions of same project with slightly different names
2- if i click on the right side compare projects toolbar, i get the
add/remove buttons option, but the compare project versions is grayed out.

Why is this grayed out and how do i fix?

Hi stevo,

I'm not sure I follow. Does the compare project versions button
on the left side of the toolbar not work? I don't believe you
can customize the compare project versions toolbar. The toolbar
should have five buttons:

Compare Project Versions
Go to Task/Resource in project versions
Drop-down list - Select tasks/resources to show in comparison report
Select columns to show in the comparison report
Help button

If what you are saying is the toolbar does not have those buttons
or the buttons do not work -- see FAQ 46 at:
http://project.mvps.org/faqs.htm

The FAQ talks about the analysis toolbar, but the paragraph about
using the COM add-in applies. In Project 2007 the dll for the
compare project version is:
c:\\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office 12\Compprj.dll

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Is the Add button active? I don't have Project open in front of me, but I
believe the file has to be closed to begin - or you have one open, then add
the second....something like that.
