Compatibility pack installed, but still prompted to install

I have Office 2003 SP3 installed and have downloaded and installed th
Compatibility Pack "FileFormatConverters.exe" so I can open Office 200
files. But on trying to open 2007 files I still get the "Do you want t
download" prompt, and the files still don't open. If I try to run th
installer again I get a message saying "Another version of this produc
is already installed. Installation cannot continue..." I don't see an
Compatibility item in the Add/Remove Programs list to uninstall and tr
again. I do see an Interoperability gizmo, but it has no uninstal
buton, and I think it is something else, anyway. OS is XP 2003 SP3
Migrating to Office 2007 is not an option for me. Any help i
appreciated
