compress a picture to reduce file size in powerpoint

Jabi

I was trying to make a slideshow made up of jpeg pictures, and the problem is
they are just too big to send out on email. These are photos of a friend's
wedding, and have to send to a bunch of people via email, but the size is
getting too big for the server.

I have tried to reduce by using FormatPicture - Compress - Change Resolution
to web, but everytime I go back to the picture, it is still on the default
compression of Print (200dpi)

any suggestions?

TIA

First option:
Have you selected "all pictures", made sure you have web/screen selected and
ticked the compress / delete cropped area in th options section?
Second option:
Are you sure the pics are jpegs? Only jpegs work with compress pictures. If
they are any other format try cut and "paste special" (jpeg)

Penny drops!!!

200 dpi is the default setting for the comressing tool - it DOES NOT mean
that the picture selected is at that resolution! If you save the presentation
you will probably find that it is much smaller!
