Configuration problems for gmail

Hey!

I have big problem making my entourage X work so I can get my gmail
from entourage X. I have followed the instructions on the
configuration site of gmail for entourage X. Those settings do not
work for me.

I have also tried to change the settings in different ways, but none
of them works either to receive or send emails.

I only get an error message -23016. "Connection failure has occured".

So does anyone know how I can get this to work?

Exactly what settings do I use if the ones that I have already used
are not working?

Sincerely
Frida

You don't state which version of Entourage you are using. Make sure you are
updated. Entourage X 10.1.9.

This is a time out error.

See the Gmail account info.

Go over the links on this page for set up AGAIN. You've had to miss
something.

A Yahoo user had a similar problem and gave this as a solution:

Well, contrary to what Yahoo lists for Entourage settings we did the
following and its working now:

Email address (e-mail address removed)
Account ID: username
Password: password
Incoming Mail Server : pop.mail.yahoo.com absolutely NO advanced settings
(contrary to what yahoo stated)
Outgoing mail server : (what ever your ISP uses for outgoing mail- yahoo
wanted us to use theirs which we never could get to work) no advanced
settings for outgoing server.

On the gMail page, in the Help section, you can find all the
configuration info for setting it up in Entoruage. Basically you need:
- enable POP on gMail
- set Entourage to connect through SSL (you also need SSL to send e-mail
- you'll need to change the prot too).
Everything is clearly indicated with screen capture in the gMail help
pages (use Entourage as the keyword).

Hi!

I see now that I def. need to update my entourage. BUT, once again I
encountered some problems. I have version Mac OS X 10.3.9 and was
trying to download Office X 10.1.9 to update my entourage. In the
installation process after confirming with my password I get the
message that it can not find the version of the program needed. ??
From what I understand my Mac OS version is more than enough to update
to 10.1.9.

Help?

This sounds like one of the recent errors that have cropped up. Two things
could fix the problem.

1. use "Remove Office", re-install from the CD and update.
2. run the combo updater for the OS.

Link for Panther 10.3.5:

Also download directly from Mactopia the 10.1.9 updater rather than using
the Microsoft updater.
