Custom dictionary grayed in Outlook 2003

Can not add to custom dictionary in Outlook 2003. And can
not ignore all during spellcheck.

Outlook 2003 on XP Pro client with Exchange 5.5 server on
NT4 domain

A colleague of mine who uses Outlook 2000 (as we all do) is also unable to add to his dictionary using MS Word editor, albeit the rest of us can.

I would really appreciate if somebody's able to help.
