custom dictionary

Hi there,

I just bought a MacBook and installed Word 2004. As a med student, I take notes on my laptop and get irritated by all the red lines that appear because spell check doesn't recognise many technical terms. The same words come up repeatedly, so I've tried adding them to my Custom Dictionary, but it seems that every time I quit Word the data is lost and the dictionary goes blank.

Does anybody know how to fix this? Just so you know, my version of Word is in French, as is the default language for all NORMAL documents (it was originally English US but I changed it), and now I use English UK when I write in English. Don't know if that influences anything.

Thanks in advance!!

I saw this solution posted for something similar try this and see if this helps:

Go Word, Preferences
Choose Spelling and Grammar

From there Choose your custom Dictionary and then choose the Dictionaries Tab

When in there make sure that your custom dictionary is checked and choose the edit tab, that will then open your custom dictionary in word try editing and then saving your dictionary , close it and then try to reopen a document that you were working on and see if that works.

Hope this helps
Cheers

Make sure that your Custom Dictionary is set to "No Language" so that it is
available in all the languages you use.

If you set your custom dictionary to English UK, it will not work if the
document flips to English US.
