custom Text1 field next to tasks in GANNT in Project Center

In MS Project you can add text in the Text1 column and then dsplay this next
to your tasks in the GANTT - very useful feature.

What if I could do this to the GANTTs in the Project Center --- is this
possible in PWA?

Nope - that's not possible in PWA.

You are not slip sliding, silly! To accomplish this, the Project Server
administrator (whom I think is you) would need to create a custom enterprise
Task field that is the Text type. If you need your PMs to select a value
from a list of possible values, rather than entering the data manually, you
will need to create a custom enterprise Lookup Table containing the list of
values, and then attach the custom enterprise field to the Lookup Table.
You would also need to ask your PMs to open EVERY one of their projects and
select/enter a value in that new enterprise field for every task, and then
save and publish their projects. Once done, you can add this custom
enterprise field to any default Project view or create a custom Project view
that shows the field. You CANNOT add the new custom field to a Project
Center view, however, since your custom field is a Task field rather than a
Project field. Hope this helps.

Not sure Dale and I answered the same question. Are you talking about the
actual Gantt Chart bar text labels, or the table to the left?

If you mean next to the blue bar in the chart, I stand by my original answer.
Ain't possible. It's doable in the table (see Dale's answer).
