Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Intel Email Client: pop We recently had a mishap iro our entourage application. Seems our main documents folder was accidently placed in trash and although I was able to retrieve it (or thought I did), entourage loaded a new version from scratch afterward, losing all previous folders, emails, contacts, etc. I had a techy retrieve the old database, which looks right by size, but have been unable to import any of it into the new database. I have tried switching main identity, but cannot access the old database. I have tried import, but the old file will not hilight. Have I lost access to the old recovered database file forever? It is sitting on the desktop presently.

Importing is going to be an issue, but if you simply rename the current
identity, and place the old one back at the same location, you should
be able to get Entourage to open it.

I have tried switching main identity, but cannot access the old
database. I have tried import, but the old file will not hilight. Have

What do you mean you cannot access it?? What happens?
Have you tried the Switch Identity command?

Renaming and replacing worked immediately and is an excellent result. Many, many thanks for your assistance. Bob

The Documents folder is a special folder. Entourage creates a new blank
Identity in the Microsoft User Data folder when opens if there is no
Identity found.

I suggest you create a new Identity and name it qquark. Now find this
Identity in the Finder. Because this is a made up name, nothing else will
show up in the search results.

This is the correct Documents folder and Microsoft User Data folder. Move
your old Identity folder to this location. Use Switch Identity to select
your old Identity. You can use the Switch Identity window to delete the
qquark Identity.

You cannot import an Identity that is the same version. You can only import
from an older version.
