Datasheet Column Color

Hi,

I have a form that I would like to display in datasheet view with several
columns highlighted yellow. I haven't been able to figure out if there is a
way to do this. Most reading I've done suggests using continuous forms as
opposed to datasheet, however I'd like to use datasheet because the users are
accustomed to that view, and I'm having trouble getting continuous forms to
have the same look/feel as a datasheet. Is there really no way to change the
backcolor of several columns in a datasheet?

Thanks!

As far as I know there is no way to do this in datasheet view.

Thanks Stephen! It worked! The only minor thing I had to do differently
than what your instructions specified was to open the form in design view to
access the conditional formatting options. I couldn't figure out how to
access conditional formatting from datasheet view. Not sure if this is
because I'm using Access 2007, or some other factor. Regardless, once I used
your conditional formatting tips in design view, everything showed up how I
wanted it to in datasheet view. Thanks again!

Darn, I forgot about conditional formatting.

Thanks Stephen. I'll have to remember this for the future.

Stephan Lebans,

Your conditional formatting 'stuff' on your web site, and other
answers in the newsgroup you have given, say that you can have more
than 3 conditional formats (for one control) if you allocate them
using code but I have been fighting with this for some time now
(several hours), and I cannot add more than 3 conditions to a control
even using code. (Most of the time was getting it to work at all. but
that is just me!)

Now it is working fine for 3 conditions - but I get run time error
7966 'The format condition number you specified is greater than the
number of format conditions' when I try to add the 4th condition).
This is in both Access 2000 and Access 2007.

My (potential) customer wants to replace an Excel Spreadsheet with an
Access continuous form because of unstability of the spreadsheet when
shared by 3 or so people. They use colours extensively to
differentiate bewteen rows and different conditions on rows and it all
looks good and I thought I could do the same in Access but ....

Any ideas?

Stephan,

I just reread my own post and I think it sounds a like I am being bit
rude towards you.

This was NOT my intention. I appreciate all your work on the group
and the web site.

I was just hoping that I am wrong and you CAN have more than 3
conditional formats OR maybe you could make it a bit clearer about
this in your postings.

Regards
