Day view from Week view

It would be nice if: When I switch from week view to day view, it would show
the current day of the week (today) rather than jumping to the first day of
the week.
For example. Today is Wednesday. When I click the Day button in Office
2007 it shows me Monday. Note: my work week is configured M-Su rather than
the default Su-Sat.
Also note, this works as expected if I have selected a "cell" (block of
time) in the calendar, but works as described above, if there is no
selection/focus on any specific day.

Instead of clicking "Day", click the header/name of day you want to
view. Today is highlighted.

There is always a focus on a day - by default it’s the first day of the week
unless you select another day. It is possible to take the focus off the
calendar section which removes the highlight from the time period that is in
focus, but the time period still has focus.

Click the today button to jump to today.

Very nice. Thanks for the tip! I'll use that

The suggestion still remains, as the current behavior of the Day button is
bizarre from a usability standpoint. Also, while this workaround is great,
but it's not intuitive. Or maybe I'm just slow :)

Understood. Clicking the today button has been my workaround.
I spend more time reviewing my calendar than adding appointments to it, so I
suspect that is why I observe this behavior frequently. I suspect most users
are in the same boat.

You're quite welcome. I dunno, that was just the first thing that came
to mind. You know, "I want to see this day, so I click it, and there it is."

Odd. My Day button always brings me to today.

not really - it's not the "today" button. That you can't see the time period
that is in focus is the problem and the only way I can repro it is to click
on the calendar name (not the check box) - if you flip between 2 or more
overlaid calendars it will drop to the first day of the week, because that
is the default when you haven't selected a specific day. When you first
open outlook to the week view, it should have either the current time or the
start of your work day highlighted on the first day of the week.
