How can I make the Exchange Directory the default in Entourage. I read several posts that indicate this isn't possible, however that seems wrong. I find it hard to believe the system would expect a local directory to be of higher order than a corporate directory.

If this doesn't work by default. Did anyone find a hack way around it? I considered making a separate directory with the same credentials and then promoting that to default. However during a basic test that approach did not seem to produce good results.

Thanks,
Patrick

How can I make the Exchange Directory the default in Entourage. I
read several posts that indicate this isn't possible, however that
seems wrong. I find it hard to believe the system would expect a
local directory to be of higher order than a corporate directory.

credentials and then promoting that to default. However during a

Entourage should return contacts from three locations:

1. Your Most Recently Used (MRU) list - This is a local cache of
addresses that you've either sent messages to or received messages from.

2. Your Exchange account's Contacts list - This is your personal
Contacts list stored on the Exchange Server but synchronized locally to
Entourage.

3. The Exchange Global Address List (GAL) - This is your company directory.

As you type a name, an auto-completion occurs and matches from all three
of these locations will be displayed. The MRU is fastest to respond and
so you will see results from it first. The GAL results are slowest
because they are coming from your server across the network. They are
displayed last simply because they take time to retrieve. You should
receive results from all these locations within a few seconds.

You cannot change the order of the results. Entourage is trying to
provide you results as quickly as possible. If you don't like the
results you find in from your Contacts list then you can delete the
records from your Contacts. If you don't like the results you find in
your MRU list then you can go to Entourage menu --> System
Preferences... --> Mail & News Preferences --> Compose and click the
Clear List button at the bottom.

Hope this helps!
