Don't want task to split to next day

Hi All,

I hope someone knows how to do this ... and that it's possible.

If a person has a 4 hour task, but only two hours left in their sift,
I don't want them to do 2 hours of the task today and the remaining 2
hours the next day. I would like the task to wait until the next day
so it can be done all at once and not split across days.

Can this be done?

Thanks for any help you can give.

Yes, but maintaining it might take longer than the task! I consider what you
want a time management issue that should be left to the resource (with
appropriate guidance.

Okay, thanks Rod. Naturally, too much management doesn't make sense.

On the other hand, I thought it might make sense for other situations
for the future. For the particular task I'm working on, it is
important because there is travel involved and it doesn't makes sense
for them to come back half way through the task.

Take care,

Michele

Michele,

I think the same answer applies. It's all down to how much detail you
are trying to put into Project. Project works best, IMHO, when you plan
*deliverables* and not *tasks*. Let the people work out the travel
details within the context of the plan and their other projects.

The real key item that should be in Project is when that deliverable
associated with 4 hours of work is due to be done (use a Deadline
field), *and* what deliverables/taks are pre-requisites and successors.

(I've never ever ... and maybe it's just being lucky ... had to put 2
hour task lines into Project plans). But I can see for planning
critical clock-time dependant projects (system startups, rocket
launches, etc.) it would be important.)
