Dynamic Web Template: Inserting same content on left of every web

My question is with regards to using Dynamic Web Templates (DWT). I've set
up my DWT and understand how to insert the same content on multiple web pages
both at the TOP of every page and the BOTTOM of every page. What I don't
understand is how to insert the same content on the LEFT side of every page
(for example, a left navigation bar) using DWT. Picture in your mind going
from left to right on any given page: the furthest most left area will always
show my left-nav bar and all other content to the right of the left-nav bar
will change from web page to web page. I really need some guidance on this
one.

Thanks Thomas. I have a follow-up question. Do I make (if it's possible)
the two columns:
1: both editable?
2: both non-editable?
3: left one editable, right one non-editable?
4: left one non-editable, right one editable?

My point with this question is that on any given web page I want to show
different content while always maintaining a left-nav bar that doesn't change
from web page to web page.

The right column should contain an editable region, for the unique
content in the page. The left column is non-editable, for the
navigation.

The stuff you don't want editable leave alone; but the area you want to make
editable put an editable area in.

Then if you change the menu or any other content that you want the same on
each page, you change it in the DWT file; this way when you save it, FP will
prompt to save the changes to every page using that DWT. Saves the headache
of having to change 100 pages manually (if your site was that large) when
you can change one page, and let FP do all the work of updating the pages.

The editable areas then allow you to enter unique content on each page.

Although Frames are not the most popular solution in alot of peoples
minds. If you were to set up your page with a frameset it would allow
you to not only keep the same navigation bar on one side if you wanted
to but you could also have a common header throughout the website as
well. Opening another page or external website within a target frame
of the frameset if you choose is also possible. You used the term
dynamicaly above and the type of page I am describing here can be
dynamically generated in the same mannor as a regular HTML or XHTML
page through the use of several tools such as JavaScript, PHP, Perl, C#
to name a few.
