Embedding Excel charts in PowerPoint

I have an Excel spreadsheet that I update monthly with data. I also have a
number of charts in the workbook that are linked to the data which update
automatically when I enter additional data. The problem I am trying to solve
is that when I embed the charts in PowerPoint each slide that contains a
chart has to be edited individually when I add new data instead of being able
to add the new data to one Excel data sheet. Another way to explain it is
that I insert a Excel chart into a slide from the Excel file. I then go to a
new slide and insert another chart and so on. I then go back to the first
slide/chart in PowerPoint and open the embedded Excel data file and add the
new data to all the fields. I then save and return to PowerPoint. The
slide/chart that I opened the embedded Excel file updates, but none of the
others in the presentation update. If I go to the next slide/chart and open
the embedded Excel file it still has the original data in it. How can I get
all the slides/charts to link to one Excel file? Any ideas or help would be
appreciated.

Thanks for the post. Thats exactly what I would like to do. However when I
select the Paste Special in PPT it does not give an option to link. The
PASTE AS: Option is "Microsoft Excel Chart Object". There is no Option to
select "Link". Maybe this is a limitation of Mac 2008 PPT vers. 12.2.3 or am
I missing something?
