Entourage 2004 w/ Exchange Shared Calendars Freezing in the Morning.

I have a small (<10) group of users connected to an Exchange 2003
server. Most of the users are using Entourage 2004 with the 11.2.3
updates installed. The rest are using Outlook 2003. We have had an
ongoing list of issues, most of which we have been able to solve, but
have one final problem that is causing much weeping and gnashing of
teeth.

In the morning, when the Entourage users start up for the first time,
they will get the spinning beach ball for as much as a half an hour
before they are able to use it. When I check the Progress Window in
Entourage, it is trying to update the Shared Calendars and when I check
Activity Monitor the Microsoft Database Daemon is topping out the CPU.
Watching packets over the network interface only shows sporadic bursts
of traffic related to Entourage.

What is really odd, is that after the first freeze, Entourage will be
fine for the rest of the day. You could even call it fast. (I know!
Sounds implausible. Entourage fast? No Way!) You can quite Entourage
and start it back up with no problems. You can even reboot the
computer and Entourage will start up right away.

I have one user who doesn't need to see the others schedules and have
removed the shared calendars from his profile. He has no longer has
any issues, so it is definitely related to the calendar.

None of the Outlook users have any issues.

I have gone through the newsgroups and tried most of the fixes on the
client side. On the server side, I don't get any errors or warnings
related to Exchange in the Event Viewer. I have cleared up all server
side AD, DNS, NTP and related issues. I may have missed something but
both a coworker (who is an Exchange geek) and I have been over both the
Clients and the server looking for possibilities.

Any suggestions anyone has would be most appreciated.

I am now to the point of dumping all old (>1 month) calendar data in
hopes of lightening the load and possibly removing malformed entries
from the database. Unfortunately, I have to wait 24 hours to test.

I continue to look for suggestions.
